Off to a Slow Start

Quick Intro: We are homeschooling our twins who are age two. My goal is to teach them a lot of hebrew and Jewish topics. We are going to try a formal approach to homeschooling, I'm planing to set up a classroom in the basement but have not gotten that far yet.

So we are OFF TO A SLOW START:
Monday we said Brachos (prayers) then we sang a Parsha song (bible portion of the week) from 613 Torah Avenue http://www.chabad.org/kids/article_cdo/aid/569617/jewish/Shoftim.htm We played and sang that song 2x then I put them on my shoulders one at a time and we marched and danced around the room singing Shoftim, Shoftim this weeks parsha is Parsha Shoftim. They laughed and giggled and asked for more more more! At this point they got hungry so we had a snack of Apple and Peanut butter I picked up a slice and held it infront of me and made a lound clear Bracha (Blessing) then took a big bight. Gavriel Simcha Gedalia just smiled at me and ate his but Baila Nechama held hers in front of her and bobbed it up and down till I said teh bracha for her! After that we made Aleph Crowns

I had the kids decorate the underside (but they were not really to interested in coloring (I'm sure that will change soon)

This is Baila Nechama in her Crown:

Here is Gavriel Simcha Gedalia in his Crown not a great picture since he would not stay still long enough to get it:

then we put them on and marched around the room singing Aleph (oh and we sang the Aleph Bet while making the crowns.

And that was our first day of "school".

Tuesday was a wash since I had an appointment in the morning and then went to do my volunteer work in the afternoon. Wed was also a wash since Gavriel Simcha Gedalia had Aqua Therapy in the morning and both had their 2year checkup in the afternoon.

Today was a more productive day we did alot of what we had done on Sunday but instead of Aleph Crowns we cut a big Aleph out of cardboard and then decorated it with markers, pestles and stickers! Gavriel Simcha Gedalia said Aleph (but he'd already been saying it before) and Baila Nechama tried to say Shoftim I think she said very quietly since she's not abig talker sh sh sh. So I scooped her up and we did our Shoftim March! Oh and I showed them the shofar and blew it for them (they thought it was AWSOME!) They each tried to blow (Gavriel Simcha Gedalia tried to eat it but Baila Nechama pursed her lips and really did try to blow)

Are they learning? I think so! But even if not we are all having a blast! I want to get a bit more organized but so far so good.
